Poland produces the world’s seventh-largest canola/rapeseed crop, and in fact the lower-yield, faster-growing of the two main types is known as “Polish rapeseed”. Even before Canadian researchers developed an edible variety, rapeseed oil was an important Polish export due to its use as a lubricant in ship engines.
