Happy Birthday, Bruce Nauman!
Born on this day in 1941 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Nauman’s practice spans a broad range of media including sculpture, photography, neon, video, drawing, printmaking, and performance. Since the 1970s he has been recognized as one of the most consistently innovative and provocative artists working internationally. One of the most body conscious contemporary artists of his generation, he has a profound affinity with the human body. Of course, it is somewhat less about the nature of the moral spirit, and more about nature of perception itself, as it borders on ironic humor and farce.
