The Future World of 1960

Futurama wasn’t only at the 1964 World’s Fair. 1939’s fair also had a GM sponsored exhibit by General Motors that had a ride of the same name in a larger “Highways and Horizons” pavilion. The showcase included vistas of the far off time of 1960, concept cars and various product demonstrations in a massive exhibit hall. This exhibit focused on the future of the American city and how transportation to and through the cityscape was tantamount to progress on a grand scale. Notable, are the color coded highways, the self driving cars, and civic centers where one would never have to walk from car to destination. Everything was automated!
