For all the shortcomings, SFMTA has come a long way. Back in 1980, Muni didn’t even know which way was up.
Eric Fischer discovered a 1980 flyer introducing Muni Metro that rotates the map 90 degrees and straightens out some of those pesky angled streets. By 1991, both the M-Ocean View and J-Church lines were running all the way to Balboa Park Station.
