3D printed gun control software by Danish company Create it REAL consists of a firearm component detection algorithm that will give 3D printers the option to block printing. It does this by comparing opened files with a database of gun part files, if a match is found the system shuts down the modelling program, much like an anti-virus. The company say they are aiming at users worried about ‘accidentally using 3D weapons files or inadvertently printing out firearms’.
