A series of beach scenes as a quick experiment. The original image (here’s one: http://instagram.com/p/dUi_YlKrrC/) is reduced down to 1 x 612px, then scaled back up to 1088 x 612px. A painting filter from Alien Skin’s Snap Art filter is applied and then some vignetting in the corner.
Out the other end come abstract landscape paintings.
