A Kaggle competition has been announced to create an algorithm that can distinguish dogs from cats. The successful algorithm would beat a type of CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) that asks a person to identify photos of cats and dogs called Asirra (Animal Species Image Recognition for Restricting Access).
