Guys, I thought I was upset about something, but it turns out that it’s not a big deal. Phew!
Sincerely, though - I wanted to like The Michael J. Fox Show. I think it’s a great cast, a serviceable premise, and I’m rooting for NBC. Really. Heck, I bought the first two episodes on iTunes, sight unseen. Only to then watch the second episode and encounter a joke that not only mocks the very idea of my existence, but furthers the “trans panic” narrative and doesn’t even do so in a new and interesting way!
For real, it’s what, fifteen years since Joey’s “she had the biggest Adam’s apple” joke on F.R.I.E.N.D.S? Anyone want to argue that this brand new show is doing anything radically different from that joke?
