making-a-frequent-appearance-my-list-of

Making a frequent appearance my list of applications that are using a significant amount of power on Mac OS X Mavericks: Adobe’s Creative Cloud status bar applet. Early this week, I mentioned on Twitter that Photoshop was showing up while idled in the background, but at least it has the fact that it’s a big app that sits on a cross-platform codebase as an excuse. This little applet shouldn’t even be showing up.

I’m not really surpised, however. With previous versions of Creative Suite, I’d gotten used to hearing the fans in my laptop spin up whenever I downloaded an update. It’s a very visceral example of how bad polling in software can destroy an energy budget.
