“Sussex Bonfire tradition is not just about the 1605 Gun Powder Plot, or just held on November 5th. Its a 3-month celebration, where Bonfire Societies host their own nights and invite neighbouring societies to attend. Each Society has its own costumes and coloured stripes, and the evening generally finishes with the reading of the Bonfire Prayer, lighting of the bonfire and a grand firework display.”
