No he’s not.  There is a silver tube (titanium?) that goes from his mouth to the barrier of the bubble helmet, then a little feed-thru feature into which the ciggy is plugged.  The better question is: why does he have to wear a space helmet if it’s okay for him to inhale the atmosphere through the cigarette?  Is what SEEMS to be a cigarette really a breathing supplement stick?  Is he just wearing the helmet as a fashion accessory to fit in with the gang?  Or is he protecting himself from his own second hand smoke?  Insanely absurd in the finest Wood tradition.
