None of the images were cropped or otherwise altered, although curatorial choices of course affected the hanging arrangement and the size at which certain images are printed. Frydman admitted that, going through the archives, some LAPD crime scene photographers had more of an aesthetic bent than others, but notes that the primary intent was still to create documentary images for evidence, not art.
