Location: Kitt Peak, Arizona, USA- Completed in 1962, the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope designed by SOM is a classic example of great architecture built for a very specific purpose. It was mainly designed for studying the physical and chemical features of the sun and is the world’s largest unobstructed aperture optical telescope.
